OUR IMPACT

The aHHa Movement has teachers and students involved in social justice committees and projects globally.

The greatest influence we have is the transformation within our children and ourselves as we share the knowledge and passion about global issues, and we realise the potential we have to make a positive influence both locally and globally.

Currently, our major projects have occurred in Australia, Malawi, South Africa, Palestine and most recently with the Syrian refugee students and teachers in Lebanon.

Connecting Teachers and Students Globally

Getting Kids Moving

MAPs is an incredible organisation who are utilising the Syrian communities to teach the most vulnerable students in the settlements. In Lebanon it is almost impossible for the Syrians to get a job outside ‘construction, domestics and agriculture’. MAPs has created an impressive primary school program, utilising the Syrian academics within the non-formal settlements as volunteer teachers, while building the capacity of individuals within the community. Their Science teachers are chemical engineers, and they have University professors and lawyers teaching the kids in the classrooms, needless to say the students were pretty inspired.

The Education sector of MAPs put forward the idea of funding a mini-marathon in between the learning centres and settlements, this will enable the students to be active, take them out of their shipping container classrooms for the day and connect the students with the kids in the other settlements.

Art Therapy

All children need is a platform in which they can express themselves. Whether it is through there traumas, their experiences in poverty  or anything they need to let out. Through art violence can be transformed into into something positive and creative, as our teachers give them methods, the outlet to express their situation. Currently we have been providing funding in Lebanon for Syrian refugees through the form of art therapy.

Creating Classrooms and Safe Spaces

Building and Renovations, creating an extra classroom.
The final organisation دار الأغاثة والتنمية was a non-formal kindergarten in Beirut. They have just opened, and are teaching over 100 of the cutest little kids, in a 2-3 bedroom apartment, with a balcony. Although the space is tight, they make it work and have created a warm learning environment for the kids. They have asked if we could provide the funds to buy a gypsum wall, to create another classroom. We have donated the funds for the wall and the construction.

Teaching Resources and Sports Equipment

Many of the communities we work with are under resourced, we support our teachers and students by sharing lessons and learning resources that are beneficial in a range of learning contexts. The benefits of sports are endless, both mentally and physically and one of our most loved projects is sharing the love by sharing endorphins. We have students involved from many different communities, including war torn or poverty effected areas. We create projects that encourage our children to take care of their bodies and minds.
